From M2 to M3 in 72 days - A unique performance in the steel industry
One of our recent heavy industrial projects was the construction of the new M3 Blast Furnace at Luleå for SSAB. The furnace shell, incorporating 760 tonnes of steel has a diameter of 14 m. and a height of 42 m.
The project included the fabrication of new steel structures weighing 1,400 tonnes and the installation of 1,400 tonnes of internal cooling panels.
We were responsible for the planning of the project, the structural and industrial design, documentation, fabrication, delivery and erection of the body of the blast furnace.
It took us a total of 72 days to execute the project which drew considerable interest from the steel industry.
The furnace body was manufactured in our workshop in Karlskrona in 10 sections.

At the arrival to Luleå, the sections was assembled to 3 big sections at a preinstallation site.
