The Öresund bridge - we put the bridge together
A project in which we could make use of our wide experience of major projects.
The Öresund bridge, the 16 km long connection between Denmark and Sweden was inaugurated in June 2000. The connection consists of a bridge, an artificial island, a tunnel and an artificial peninsula at Kastrup.
AREVA NP Uddcomb AB welded the joints to the high bridge, consisting of totally 8 girders which themselves consists of 7-8 sections. Each section is 20 meters long, 12 meters high och 30 meters wide and thickness up to 60 mm
Sections to girders was welded at Verkö in Karlskrona and was shipped to Öresund by barge. Each joint consists of over 200 m of weld with very high quality requirements. Each girder has a weight of 2.400 tonnes.
