New huge contract to Uddcomb Engineering AB

AREVA NP, the mother company of Uddcomb Engineering, signed on December 21st in consortium with Siemens AG and Hietkamp Gmbh a contract with OKG AB comprising modernisation of process-, I&C and electrical systems on unit 2. The agreement is a total undertaking covering all necessary engineering and performance of plant modifications. The total contract value is in the range of billions SEK, whereof Uddcomb Engineering will be responsible for ca 400 million SEK.
The aim is to ensure long term production capacity on unit 2, through improvements of both safety and availability. The measures related to reactor safety are made in order to meet new safety requirements and includes e.g. a complementary reactor protection system and enhancements in supporting systems. The project will last until 2011 and includes also the erection of two new 6-floor buildings for installation of the new safety systems. All mechanical design and associated analyses and installation of all process systems will be in Uddcomb Engineering scope of supply.
In addition, preparatory works for power uprating as part of the project is in progress. Should this become reality, the thermal power will tincrease from 620 MW to 840 MW. This part is currently an option in the contract and will be subject to OKG board decision during spring 2007.
