Uddcomb Engineering makes Nuclear Power even cleaner

Sunday 15 June 2008

During the recently finished annual outage on unit 2 in Oskarshamn NPP, Uddcomb Engineering installed a hydrogen recombiner system. Hydrogen which is produced during operation of a nuclear reactor can contain a low level of radioactivity, why OKG AB decided to extend the existing cleaning system with a recombinator function, where the hydrogen is combined with oxygen into water. The already very limited release to the environment (less than 1% of the allowed level) is hereby further reduced. The installations where performed according to plan and the desired effect have been confirmed. A few complementary system tests remain and will be done later in the operation cycle.

Uddcomb Engineering will install a similar system on unit 1, which enter its annual outage on June 22nd.
